Genocide & Ethnic Cleansing
Colonization - When a powerful group invades a land and takes control over people who already live there.
Displaced - People forced to leave their home country due to violence or disaster.
Ethnic Group - People who share cultural history, language, traditions, genetics, and homelands.
Ethnic Cleansing - When groups forces an entire ethnic group out by scaring, hurting, and/or killing them.
Genocide - Destroying or killing the culture and/or people of an ethnic group.
Occupation - Invading someone's land and home without the permission of the people who already live there.
Why Act Now?
Is there even anything we can do about big violent problems like ethnic cleansing and genocide?
Kids like you can pressure governments, industries, and occupying forces to end violence.
Let’s learn how these events shaped our history - and how they're still going on today.
We speak up - even when it's scary - because oppressors can only get away with hurting people if we stay silent.
Stay curious, and stand brave - these are hard topics to learn about. But you can turn your sadness and fear into good change, one small action at a time.

“Stojka began painting at the age of 56 using unconventional painting implements like her fingers and toothpicks. She worked with 'everything that comes between [her] fingers,' including cardboard, glass jars, postcards, and salt dough.”- Wikipedia
