Statement of Acknowledgement
Since the emotional and intellectual labor of activists and people from targeted groups is often unpaid and unacknowledged, it’s our responsibility to signal-boost the work we benefit from.
Organizations who are doing non-book & parenting praxis work so I don’t have to:
- I now direct a portion of my income to organizations that align with our vision. To avoid having to come back here to list redundant links (and falling behind) you can see them compiled by year in the Financial Disclosures page.
Books, Articles Feeds & Websites whose work I’m learning from:
- Organizations and educational material, I signal boost on our toolkits
- Organizers and advocate issues, I highlight in our monthly Quick Actions
- Despite focusing less on books these days, I still track books that I learn from and recommend to others in our Bookshop curated book lists
Originators of language & concepts I reference frequently in this work:
- Corinne Duyvis coined the phrase #OwnVoices
- Kimberlé Williams Crenshaw coined the term ‘intersectionality‘
- James Charlton coined the phrase #NothingAboutUsWithoutUs
- Kerima Çevik’s Intersected coined the tag #AutisticWhileBlack
- Elisabeth Schüssler Fiorenza coined the term‘kyriarchy’ in her book But She Said: Feminist Practices of Biblical Interpretation, which I admit I haven’t read entirely, mostly because I don’t have the theological scaffolding to properly process all the material
- Mariame Kaba coined the term ‘Transformative Justice‘
- The Bay Area Transformative Justice Collective introduced me to the concept of pod mapping
- Sins Invalid introduced me to the 10 principles of Disability Justice
