Home Info Accountability Statement & Guidelines Affiliate Disclosure

Affiliate Disclosure

via Ashia

To maintain transparency and accountability, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) requires folks who receive compensation for reviewing or promoting products to clearly state who is getting paid for what and how. I’m a fan of this guideline.

Some of the links on this website (particularly books), products, or services are affiliate referral links. This means that I may earn a small commission if you choose to make an order (usually for anything you order in that session, not just the product I’m linking to.) There is no additional cost for you. Prices are exactly the same for you if you make an order through an affiliate link as going to these websites directly.

Why I use affiliate links

Researching, writing, and running all this marvelousness is a full-time job. While most of my income comes from our awesome-fantastic-lovely Ko-Fi, Substack, and Luminary Braintrust members, it’s still not enough to cover my family’s living expenses. So affiliate links are necessary to keep this content free and accessible for parents and educators who can’t afford a paywall.

Little Feminist Book Club Consulting & Affiliate Partnership

Little Feminist Book Club (LFBC) is an Illuminati supporter of Books For Littles & Raising Luminaries, which means I consult with them on their suggested book lists. We’ve also created an affiliate partnership, designed to provide a means for me to earn an affiliate fee for every new sign-up for a book subscription using one of my affiliate links. Like this fancy LFBC affiliate link for them right here. So fancy!

Bookshop.Org

Bookshop.org is still in beta, but it’s more supportive of Indie bookstores than ::ahem:: other behemoth companies. It’s not quite accessible enough for me to switch over completely, but I’m crossing my fingers that they get on board with hot-linked images and international shipping soon. Encourage them to do so, they’re very friendly! Contact: Info@Bookshop.org and tell them to adhere to all of my whims and fancies so we can be BFFs forever. Oh, right, and now I am a part of their affiliate program! (There is no formal text for this, so I’m winging it.)

Amazon Affiliate Program

Books For Littles & Raising Luminaries are a participants in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to amazon.com. I use Amazon as an affiliate because the website is more accessible than most for readers with disabilities, and it’s a great way to show book cover images without getting into weird copyright issues.

Lil Helper Affiliate Program

Books For Littles & Raising Luminaries are a participants in the ShareASale program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Lil Helper. I’ve partnered with Lil Helper as an affiliate because they offer environmentally-friendly, trans-inclusive menstrual products as well as ungendered baby diapers and products. I personally use Lil Helper’s menstrual pads, and they’re much better than the ones I used to sew for myself.

Primary Affiliate Program

Books For Littles & Raising Luminaries are a participants in the ShareASale program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Primary.com. I’ve partnered with Primary as an affiliate because they don’t gender colors or patterns and offer high quality, unbranded clothing options for both gender-fluid & nonbinary kiddos and adults, but also any kid, regardless of how they identify. Everyone in our family wears Primary clothing, and we especially love that the rainbow prints come up sizes for larger folks.

The mission of RL requires transparency and accountability, which is why I hold myself to the policies of Foundational Honesty, which you can read more about in my Accountability Statement. I do my best to wrestle with my honest opinions, my bias (that I’m aware of), and lack of lived experience when I’m swerving out of my particular lane. With the exception of quoted excerpts (particularly in Spotlights), the views and opinions I expressed on this website are my own.
