Sometimes you have to celebrate the small stuff – like getting out of bed in the morning and completing the basic foundations of your job. Amiright?

This month, we’re showing our kids how to pace ourselves and work sustainably

This means helping them recognize when it’s time to slow down and accept that they can’t do it all. And definitely not QUICKLY AND ALL AT ONCE.

You can’t tackle ALL OF THESE in one month. Just have your kiddo pick a topic below and run with it.

Before Raising Luminaries, I thought being an ‘activist’ meant writing letters to legislators, knowing All The Current Things, and showing up to big collective actions like protests -- all of which made me want to rage-nap, melt, and crawl out of my skin, respectively.

I am the school librarian for a small private school in SoCal and have been working for several years to curate and steward a collection that is as diverse as possible. While we are a racially diverse community, we are not really diverse in terms of financial status and I feel like our kids are sheltered from most historic truths. I am descended from European colonizers myself so I feel like I walk a line in terms of presenting truths other than my own….but I feel I must try my best.

I’m an Autistic, multiracial (Chinese/Irish) 2nd-generation settler raising two children alongside my partner on the homelands of the Wampanoag and Massachusett people. My goal with Raising Luminaries is to collaborate with families and educators in raising the next generation of kind & courageous leaders, so we can all smash the kyriarchy together.
