Body Positivity & Acceptance
Body Positivity - a movement to celebrate all bodies as beautiful and 'good.'
Body Acceptance - the belief that our rights and agency should not depend on what our body looks like, how it works, or whether society sees it as a 'good' body.
Why Act Now?
Supremacy culture raises us to believe that only people with specific types of bodies are entitled to human rights, healthcare, public access, safety, and respect.
What we are supposed to accept as a 'good' or 'normal' body is defined through popular media - books, advertisements, TV and commerce.
The Body Positivity movement is a push to include a few more types of bodies in the media under the definition of 'good.'
But should our rights depend on whether someone accepts our bodies? Or should all bodies be acceptable?
