Hi Friends!

I make too much stuff! It’s confusing – I know.

But no to worry – things are about to get simpier!

This autumn, we’re restructuring the Luminary Braintrust and Ignition Notes newsletter to be less confusing and easier to follow.

Below, find out difference between the Ignition Notes, Luminary Braintrust, and Seasonal Collectives

Discover which space is best for you, and how to use each to raise kickass kids to smash the kyriarchy.

Who Ignition Notes is for:

If you’ve already got a solid connection to a group of friends and accountability-buddies who support your advocacy and parenting goals, and all you need are a few guides to save time – this newsletter is for you.

What’s changing this autumn in the Ignition Notes Newsletter:

The newsletter itself is free, with an option to upgrade to a paid Substack account to support my work. While I do send a few fun bonuses as a token of appreciation for our paid Ignition Notes supporters, all of these perks (and more) are already available to Luminary Braintrust Members.

So if you are already an active member of the Luminary Braintrust, your membership includes all the perks of an Ignition Notes subscription.

The The Luminary Braintrust Community & Collaborative Workshops

The Ignition Notes newsletter is great – but it’s not collaborative action, it’s just passive consumption. It’s just… stuff. Useful stuff that I chuck into the void in the hopes of making your life easier.

But let’s be honest – many folks who visit Books For Littles and subscribe to that newsletter are here for the performative activism. “I subscribed to a newsletter I never open – look what a good ally I am!”

Consumption is not activism, and it’s not care work. Passively waiting for resources to drop in your lap (admittedly awesome ones) is not going to keep you from spiraling into overwhelm or support you to navigate obstacles.

For long-term change, you need a community. You need companionship, accountability, and fuel to keep going. A weekly email isn’t going to help you navigate isolation and overwhelm as you deal with…  :::gestures broadly to assorted legislative disasters::: . like…everything that’s just going on right now?

Join the Luminary Braintrust community and get access to:

  • Our 24/7 asynchronous radically progressive caregiver chat group whenever you need us
  • Spring & autumn collaborative workshops, book clubs & literary salons to help you navigate parenting challenges
  • Goofy, low-pressure accountability groups with monthly 20-Day Accountabili-Buddy challenges to transform your everyday habits, plus Little Wins & Failure Parties to keep you on track with your commitments.
  • A huge reference library of 80+ tools, guides, homeschool curricula, kids activities, scripts, and goofy fun things to help you juggle both your advocacy and parenting challenges
  • Exclusive early-bird registration and pricing for our Winter Incubator & Summer Luminator Caregiver Collectives

Who the Luminary Braintrust (LBT) is for:

The LBT community is a brave space for misfit parents who don’t really fit into traditional parenting and activist spaces. We’re here to build community, learn about each other’s challenges, and create a culture of support and reciprocity together.

If you want to do more than click & share ‘She Persisted’ posts on Instagram, but don’t have the resources and bandwidth to drag your kids to protests or write a bazillion advocacy letters – our community was built for you.

What’s changing this autumn in the LBT

in the Luminary Braintrust, we’ll be resuming our Collab Lab discussions for autumn and spring. But to save you some inbox clutter, I’m reducing these update roundups to once a month – with reminders in the Ignition Notes newsletter when it’s ready for you.

All LBT members are automatically subscribed to the Ignition Notes Newsletter. So you’ll get updates when I have news for you about LBT shenanigans.

Transform your parenting & advocacy

Okay let’s just be super honest here – everything above is a band-aid. It’s fun, and it will help you survive and bring you delicious pockets of relief. But we’re not taking down the system without some big changes.

We live in a capitalist hellscape of supremacist bigotry and exhaustion. Individual hustling will not dismantle the system – we need to dismantle it from the roots up. You cannot build collective liberation all alone.

If you’re ready to end the cycle of caregiver sprinting & burnout, join the Summer & Winter Collectives. Reconfigure your care work through a lens of collective liberation – without getting dragged down by despair and overwhelm.

Each collective covers very different aspects of caregiver work, but are scaffolded on the same kyriarchy-smashing principles. In the winter we focus on internal obstacles, self-advocacy, and self-care. In summer, we transform intent into action, learning how to help others while working within our capacity.

Together, we have built a process to navigate obstacles and light a better path for our kids.

Who the seasonal collectives are for:

Are you chronically spread thin and overwhelmed? Juggling caregiving, advocacy, and sparse moments to sleep and eat?

Are you starting to realize hustling and saviorism are not reducing the guilt and despair that keeps you distracted from your kids?

Let us help you get free from obligation, overwhelm, and complicity in oppression. It’s not easy. You’ll have to make some hard decisions and incremental changes. But we’re here to support you the entire way.

What’s changing in the seasonal collectives

It doesn’t matter which season you join first – we’re ready for you to join us, from wherever you are now.

Members who have shown up to do the work have earned months of free time, cutting busywork, decision fatigue and confusion out of our everyday stressors.

Every year, members are invited back at no cost to enjoy new features as we grow – so there is no such thing as falling behind here.

Coming up next

As mentioned earlier, I’ll be reducing these updates to just once a month, with notifications on Luminary Braintrust News once monthly via the Substack Ignition Notes newsletter.

So I’ll be back in a few weeks with our August LBT update, inviting our active members to vote for our autumn collaborative workshop topic.

With you,

– Ashia
