Hi Friends!

It’s obnoxious critter season, when the little vermin of the forest scamper around digging up roots and stuffing their cheeks before the harsh winter hits.

Maybe you’ve noticed some of those nibblers are coming for you.

Have you been getting voluntold to ‘chip in‘ a bit more at work, at school, or wherever?

Noticing a fresh infestation of trolls in your comments?

What about that dreaded inbox, where nibblers who feel entitled to your energy sneak in to poke and prod and steal the last fucks you have to give.

I mean – you’re always so helpful so I bet you’d like to help more!

Sucks the life right out of you.

As a community caregiver, if you’re feeling a scootch more nibbled-on than usual, please take this reminder that you don’t owe anyone (except your kids) your time and attention.

You’ll be giving a lot this season. So here’s a helpful cornucopia of things I’ve made to nourish you while you fight off hundreds of creatures large and small nip-nip-nipping at your ankles.

‘Cause I like you and I want your life to be easier!

Open Letter To Educators: Why We Should Drop The ADL from Schools

Raising Luminaries is a founding co-signatory for #DropTheADLinSchools, a spin-off of the nation-wide #DropTheADL campaign, focused on supporting educators, students, and families who have been targeted and misinformed by organizations like the ADL.

Please consider joining organizations such as Rethinking Schools, 18 Million Rising, The Movement for Black Lives, IfNotNow, Jewish Voices for Peace, Raising Luminaries, and 70+ more by signing on as an individual (or as a leader in your organization).

If you’re concerned about vulnerable students or educators targeted by organizations like the ADL for supporting Palestinian, Arab, and Muslim students, share this open letter with your school committee and administration so they can create open and honest learning spaces for all students.

November Toolkit & Story Bingo

Oh, who would have expected – a toolkit for November?!

You knew it was coming, and yet, isn’t it lovely to remember that you have this resource handy for whenever you need it?

Team up with a friend to make a bingo, and I’ll send you a virtual pat on the back and a little cheer. Wheee!

League of Badassery & Accountabili-Buddies

Who said these are getting more unhinged? Darling, we embrace this messiness.

Little Wins & Failure Party

You can’t seriously tell me you haven’t screwed anything up this month?

Take accountability to give hope and temper the pain for each other. Boast about your little accomplishments and cringy failures so we can all celebrate together.

Coming Up Next

Over in the Ignition Notes newsletter, we’re sharing free resources for the public and maintaining a steady (and probably overwhelming) series of helpful tools and shenanigans.

“The chat sounds…interesting. But I just hate video”

Yeah, me too. And then the pandemic forced me into even deeper isolation and I just needed to vent with an adult whose toilets I don’t scrub, if only for a few minutes a week.

Our LBT chat group now has closed captions, transcriptions, and if you’re shy – point your camera at an interesting plant!

Need a mental break while stretching or washing dishes? Pop in to listen to the last couple videos, say ‘hi’ and we’ll fill you in on anything juicy that you missed.

Meanwhile – leave a comment below with questions, ideas, or interesting gossip about your local squirrels.

With you,

– Ashia
