You are doing a good job!
Even when you feel like it’s not ‘enough.’
Resisting that urge to panic amidst the chaos (anti-LGBTQiA2S+ legislation! book bans! loss of healthcare! climate disaster!) and getting up each morning to take small steps forward is the work.
Modeling this resistance for our kids, showing how we survive through hate and targeting is the work.
So I hope you take it easier on yourself this autumn.
You need to rest for… all the months? I will still like you.
You need to bury yourself in leaves to take a break from advocacy and getting out of bed? I will still like you!
Stop supporting my work so you can support someone who needs the cash more? Still like you!
Pick your nose and eat it? I’ll still like you but also please wash your hands!
Fail to produce results? Still like you!
Mess up and scream at your kids?* I’ll still like you!
Make mistakes and say something offensive? Likable, still!
Apologize clumsily and imperfectly and have to do it all over again? Like you, I’ll still do it!
You are unconditionally awesome.
This October, we’re teaming up with the Come Back To Care community to host a free Social Justice Parenting workshop.
We’ll be talking about picking our battles, generational trauma, and somatic tricks to make parenting through rough patches feel a little bit easier.
REGISTER EARLY to attend or get recordings. Our 45-minute event will be recorded, but show up live for bonus perks!
