DISMANTLING SUPREMACY

Resisting False Urgency

NEW DISMANTLING SUPREMACY DISCUSSION

Dismantling Supremacy

Each month we examine a new aspect of supremacy culture - and our responsibility to resist it within ourselves and our communities.

Hi Friends!

This April, we’re overcoming false urgency.

As we wind down our Collab Lab discussion on picking our battles, we’re exploring how to recognize and resist false urgency in our activism and care work.

What is false urgency?

How does it sabotage our work?

…And what can we do about it?

Silently ruminating is a great way procrastinate (thoughts and prayers!) – so join an active conversation in the post, our chat group, or host your own discussion with friends or family.

Share your experience, along with the the tools and strategies that help you dismantle false urgency with your kids.

In the full kit, you’ll find a series of prompts and kid-friendly definitions to move from ‘I HAD NO IDEA THIS WAS A THING‘ to identifying small changes you could make today.

Coming up next:

I’ll be back next week ranting about problematic tropes in kids movies.

The Earthquakes are Begging. Me. to go see Mario. But I’m a ‘watch it ten years later when it’s streaming for less than a dollar‘-kinda-person, so with any luck next week’s Family Movie Night will be literally any other movie but Mario.

With you,

– Ashia

PS: Pearl-clutchers came for our local school council to remove the equity clause in our school district. I figured the anti-hate educators and families would shut them down with logic, facts, and eloquence, so instead, I read this two-minute satirical argument in favor of the opposition. Enjoy!
